Future Plans 

The plan for Spring Lake Park is to leave the area natural with as little artificial development as possible. 

2010 Projects Planned

·               Provide water and sewage services for host campsites

·               Complete pedestrian crossings for Moon Creek and Egg Bag Creek

·               Locate and mark park boundaries

·               Continue trail development south of Moon Creek

2009 Projects Completed

·               Implemented resident host program

·               Provided electricity for resident hosts

·               Built driveway for upper lot

·               Installed gates at trail heads and north park entrance

·               Cleared and cut additional trails south of Moon Creek

·               Provided benches throughout park
 

2008 Projects Completed

·               Classes from three Streator elementary schools hosted

·               Information board installed

·               350 trees and native grasses and flowers planted

·               Additional trails opened or extended

·               Bird houses, bat houses, and screech owl houses hung throughout the park

·               Restroom facilities provided

·               Parking lot enlarged

·               Concrete added to slow erosion of Egg Bag Creek

·               Steps to falls rebuilt

·               Trail signs installed

·               Handicapped accessible ramps installed at the pedestrian bridge

·               Stepping stones installation begun in Moon Creek to access trails to the south.

2007 Projects Completed

·               Graveled parking lot

·               Built pedestrian bridge

·               Removed trash

·               Cleared brush

·               Installed posts around the parking lot

·               Hosted educators

·               Built steps to the falls area

·               Opened trails

·               Established host program

·               Developed website (www.springlakefalls.org)

·               Incorporated in Illinois as 501 (c) (3)

Ongoing Projects
Maintain security; host area schools; improve trails; develop soil and water conservation plan; identify vegetation with signage; compile record of historical park events; and increase volunteer base.
